The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for order entry and triage. They pick up calls incoming calls and direct appropriately. They will also talk with LTC Facilities, pharmacists, nurses and physicians. They take in drug orders via faxes and other forms. They also answer questions on meds. For Triage they are taking in faxes and looking at the patients profile and then deciding whether it makes sense to place the order. They will prep the document by highlighting the pertinent information on the form (via computer) and send it to order entry where they make the orders. They take about 15-30 calls per day. They also call on all new admissions to the LTC facilities.

Also if there is an issue on an order they will need to figure out what went wrong by looking back at the order and then understanding how the Automatic Dispensing Unit works. When they are responsible for order entry, they enter medication orders at about 40-45 per hour. This is a straight forward and repetitive role.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

- 3+ months of pharmacy experience in a retail or LTC setting
