Company is an international specialty insurance group with offices across the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Ireland. They specialize in Stop Loss insurance.
Company is looking to make an addition to their Underwriting Assistant staff, due to a promotions into their Underwriting and Marketing group. This is a position that will start after compliance clears. Hours are flexible on Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.
The Underwriting Assistant will perform various administrative tasks to assist the processing and renewal of policies and contracts for the underwriting department.
Pull and distribute census and zip code information to be entered into internal databases.
Evaluate, analyze, and interpret plan documents, amendments, and schedules of benefits provided by brokers.
Responsible for accuracy and completion of underwriting information and data entry forms pertaining to new and sold business, as well as renewal and life cases.
Data Entry of all pertinent information obtained through the analysis of RFP's to generate manual rates from internal database.
Evaluate, analyze, and interpret aggregate reports provided by brokers to determine risk and also assist Underwriters with their determination of discretion to assign.
Obtain necessary information for the brokers to provide accurate quotes.
Maintain required documentation on all RFP's and policy renewals in system, manual files and scanned document storage.
Perform other general clerical duties such as data entry, mailing, copying, filing, faxing, scanning, ordering supplies, and operating departmental office equipment.
Typical day – Throughout the year it varies. In October, were in OT and focused on hitting deadlines. By December its already slow. Effective dates for renewals, January, we need to get it all done ASAP. Quarterly dates are also required to hit. This group is the first step of the assembly line, they’re organizing the documents and entering the data for new business and renewals. Then sent to Underwriting for review and then additional requests, or confirmation to approval. You are supporting a specific group of Brokers, as you increase your skills we will increase the work load. 5 – 20 applications per day during busy season.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
BS Degree in Business related field
3+ recent years of Administrative experience
3+ years of Microsoft Office experience (school will count)
3+ years of Microsoft Excel experience (school will count)
Preferred Experience Technically savvy, utilize MS outlook heavily, Excel user is important – no Vlookups or Pivot Tables, there is math problems used (formulas for multiplication and adding) and percentages.
