Job Title: Mechanical Designer/Drafter
Job Description
Join our team as a Revit Technician - MEP, where you will leverage your comprehensive modeling experience in commercial and residential construction with a focus on structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aspects. You will play a crucial role in translating designs modeled in Revit into production-ready drawings, assisting the Production team in building modular products in a factory environment. Collaborate with the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Team to document projects for production and occasionally lead individual projects. Familiarity with State code, NECA, ASHRAE, & NSPC is beneficial for this role.
Responsibilities
- Work with and complete general modeling utilizing Revit.
- Develop production-level drawings and Bill of Material (BOM) takeoffs for residential and commercial projects to support production.
- Ensure timely completion of documentation to support production and engineering schedules.
- Guide the allocation of engineering resources to assure accurate and timely completion of product documentation.
- Collaborate with supervisors and trade leads in creating project MEP objectives, goals, work standards, and procedures.
- Provide high-quality communications, training, and mentoring of other Revit Technicians in MEP practices.
- Maintain effective document control, including cloud-based document management and access, as per department standards.
- Assist in model coordination with external consultants, architects, engineers, and suppliers as needed.
- Participate in the development of departmental standards, templates, and modeling standards.
- Follow modeling standards and department procedures to ensure consistency.
- Administer document control processes.
- Mentor junior team members and/or interns to assure accurate and consistent work.
- Provide support to the production floor as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned by department leadership.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Revit for modeling and drafting.
- Experience in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design.
- Familiarity with construction documents and mechanical drafting.
- Strong communication and mentoring skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with State code, NECA, ASHRAE, & NSPC.
- Experience in cloud-based document management.
- Ability to coordinate with external consultants, architects, engineers, and suppliers.
Work Environment
This position is based in an office environment, where the design team frequently interacts with the production floor. Presence in the office is highly encouraged as it facilitates collaboration and communication with team members
