Job Description
The Pharmacy Manager leads daily pharmacy operations within a behavioral health clinic, combining clinical expertise, operational leadership, and relationship-building to support individuals with complex health needs. This role oversees pharmacy services, ensures regulatory compliance, drives financial performance, and develops a high-performing, compassionate team focused on delivering exceptional patient care and positive clinical outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily pharmacy operations, including dispensing, inventory management, workflow coordination, and quality assurance activities.
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with patients, clinic partners, and community stakeholders to support coordinated and patient-centered care.
- Serve as a clinical expert and collaborate closely with interdisciplinary care teams to support positive clinical outcomes for individuals with behavioral health and addiction treatment needs.
- Counsel and educate patients on medication use, potential side effects, dosing schedules, and the importance of treatment adherence.
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations, policies, and professional standards.
- Oversee pharmacy financial performance and identify opportunities to grow and optimize pharmacy services.
- Recruit, coach, develop, and motivate pharmacy staff to deliver exceptional service and maintain high professional standards.
- Foster a compassionate, values-driven team culture that supports patient dignity, respect, and high-quality care.
- Review key performance indicators, analyze trends, and identify opportunities for operational and clinical improvement.
- Lead workforce and business planning to maintain operational excellence and ensure appropriate staffing and resource allocation.
- Support marketing and outreach efforts to promote pharmacy services and offerings within the community.
- Provide one-on-one patient support in a behavioral health environment, including medication management and adherence support.
- Act as a talent steward by identifying, attracting, and retaining top pharmacy talent.
- Partner with clinic leadership and community-based providers to ensure coordinated care and seamless service delivery.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance reporting in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
- Administer or oversee the administration of long-acting injectables (LAIs) as part of comprehensive medication management, as appropriate.
Essential Skills
- Current, active Pharmacist license in the state of Montana.
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
- 3+ years of pharmacy leadership or management experience preferred.
- Experience working in behavioral health or community-based care settings.
- Demonstrated ability to manage daily pharmacy operations, including dispensing, inventory, workflow, and quality assurance.
- Strong clinical pharmacy knowledge, including medication management and prescription verification.
- Willingness to administer long-acting injectables (LAIs) and support related clinical workflows.
- Certified immunizer credential, or willingness to obtain immunization certification within 3 months of hire.
- Proven ability to recruit, coach, and develop pharmacy staff and build high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of state and federal pharmacy regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and patient counseling skills, particularly with individuals managing behavioral health and addiction treatment needs.
- Ability to analyze key performance indicators and use data to drive operational and clinical improvements.
- Demonstrated management skills, including workforce planning, business planning, and financial oversight.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- PharmD degree strongly valued for advanced clinical leadership.
- Experience providing one-on-one patient support in behavioral health or addiction treatment environments.
- Community-based or coordinated care models.
- Experience supporting or leading marketing and community outreach for pharmacy services.
- Ability to build strong collaborative relationships with clinic leadership, care teams, and community partners.
- Commitment to a compassionate, values-driven approach to patient care.
- Interest in serving behavioral health and addiction treatment communities and helping individuals follow complex treatment plans.
Work Environment
This role is based in a behavioral health clinic pharmacy that operates as part of a coordinated care team. The Pharmacy Manager works closely with clinicians, community-based providers, and support staff to ensure individuals with complex health conditions receive the right medications and are supported in following their treatment plans. The environment is patient-facing and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on behavioral health, addiction treatment, and long-acting injectables as part of comprehensive medication management. Work involves regular use of pharmacy dispensing systems, inventory management tools, and electronic health records. The culture emphasizes compassion, collaboration, and high-quality, values-driven care. Standard professional pharmacy attire is expected in the clinic setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bozeman, MT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $92.00/hr.
