Job Title: Utility Designer


Job Description

The Utility Designer will play a crucial role in coordinating with Residential Project Account Managers to gather necessary information from developers, such as neighborhood layouts and load data. Using this information, the designer will execute various tasks essential for determining cable routing, transformer locations, and secondary cable sizing. The role requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to clean up CAD files for land base mapping and construction prints.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Residential Project Account Managers to obtain information from developers.
  • Determine cable routing and transformer locations using load calculators.
  • Size underground transformers and secondary cables using specific calculators.
  • Plan roadway crossing locations and provide conduit layouts.
  • Receive, clean up, and prepare CAD files for mapping and construction purposes.
  • Order necessary cables and equipment for construction crews.
  • Deliver completed designs back to the RPAM Group for further coordination and project completion.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in design, engineering, and drafting.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and civil and electrical design.
  • Knowledge of distribution and power delivery systems.
  • Familiarity with utility, substation, transmission, and power distribution design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a CSD Designer, Electrical Designer, Utility Designer, or Power Systems Designer.
  • Experience as a Grid Design Engineer or Electrical Distribution Planner.
  • Skills in infrastructure design and utility planning.
