Job Description
The Maintenance Technician installs, maintains, and repairs production machinery to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation across the facility. This role focuses on troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, performing both routine preventive maintenance and emergency repairs, and supporting continuous production with minimal downtime.
Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, and test new machines and equipment to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.
- Inspect production machines regularly to identify malfunctions, abnormal conditions, or potential issues before they impact operations.
- Monitor equipment performance and promptly respond to changes in temperature, sounds, smells, energy usage, or other indicators of abnormal operation.
- Perform thorough troubleshooting on production machinery, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Schedule and perform routine preventive maintenance and service for each piece of equipment according to established maintenance plans.
- Perform emergency repairs on various types of machinery to minimize downtime and restore equipment to safe operating condition.
- Identify, remove, and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment life.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, as well as test equipment such as voltmeters, to complete maintenance and repair tasks safely and accurately.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems ranging from 110 to 460 volts, including motors, controls, and related components.
- Troubleshoot PLC systems at the input/output level to identify and resolve control issues affecting equipment performance.
- Read and interpret schematics and diagrams to diagnose issues and perform accurate repairs.
- Perform basic welding and fabrication tasks as needed to support equipment repair and modification.
- Understand and comply with all workplace safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and company safety policies while performing maintenance activities.
- Communicate openly and effectively with supervisors and other employees to ensure smooth shift operations, coordinated repairs, and effective shift changeovers.
- Support the upkeep and reliability of approximately 18 loom production machines, ensuring they remain in good working condition.
- 3–5 years of previous industrial maintenance experience.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for production machinery, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems in the 110–460 volt range.
- Experience troubleshooting PLC systems at the input/output level.
- Ability to read and work from schematics and technical diagrams.
- Proficient use of a voltmeter and other diagnostic tools.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Ability to perform emergency repairs safely and efficiently.
- Clear and open communication skills to coordinate with supervisors and team members.
- Commitment to following workplace safety regulations and procedures.
- Electrical troubleshooting experience in an industrial environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot PLC systems to identify and resolve control issues.
- Ability to weld and fabricate components to support equipment maintenance and modification.
- Comfort working with a variety of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
- Experience working with loom or similar production machinery is beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently during off-shifts.

Work Environment
The role is based in a production facility where the maintenance team supports the upkeep of approximately 18 loom production machines. The standard schedule for this position is 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on a 2-2-3 rotation, providing a predictable pattern of workdays and days off. Initial training takes place on day shift from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, to ensure thorough onboarding and familiarity with equipment and procedures. The environment involves working around running machinery, using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment such as voltmeters, and performing tasks on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Safety practices and adherence to facility procedures are essential in this setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hickory, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
