WECTEC STAFFING IS CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR LEAD SHIELDING TECHNICIANS FOR THE UPCOMING 2024 OUTAGE AT BRUNSWICK
Shielding Technician / Handler
Shielding technician duties include installing shielding as directed by the team leader in accordance with the Temporary Shielding Request (TSR). The Shielding Technician will also assist in building frames for shielding as directed by the team leader. Shielding handler duties including movement of lead to various locations, lifting and passing lead blankets to co-workers under the direction of a more experienced worker. Lead handler may at times assist with installation of lead blankets on components under the direction of a more experienced worker.
Education / Training Requirements

Education / Training Requirements
- High School or equivalent reading and math skills
- Satisfy all requirements required to obtain a Level II Nuclear Access Badge
- Follow industrial safety and ALARA work practices
- Effectively communicate and interact with co-workers, Supervisors, and Purchaser's staff to ensure safe and quality job completion for all assignments
- Use administrative documents, procedures, data sheets/forms properly.
- Read and interpret procedures and drawings as required by position
- Climb and work from ladders and scaffolding.
- Practice Foreign Material Exclusion and Housekeeping per station directives
- Pass a respirator physical and fit test (If required)
- Wear required personal protective equipment
- Handle a minimum of 75 lbs and lift a minimum of 50lbs overhead
- Perform work in a professional (neat and orderly) fashion
- Work in hot or cold environments or confined spaces
- Possess the physical stamina to lift and pass lead shielding blankets as assigned. .
