Our client, a home security company, is looking for someone who
is responsible for all systems installed for 30 days after installation. This
technician will be going into residential and small business to install their
new, or maintenance existing security systems in the Buffalo, NY area.
On a day to day basis, this candidate will be going to customers
home or place of business and drilling/ cutting drywall to install security
panels. They will have to fish wires throughout the building and then terminate
the network cables. They will often have to install CCTV cameras and sensors.
They will then program the system to get everything online and working. They
will be traveling around the greater Rochester area and be home every night.
Will need to use their own vehicle and tools. Should have basic wiring and hand
tools along with a 6 foot latter. Also will be customer facing and in residents
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
• Installs appropriate devices; dismantles and reconstructs
equipment as required by customer. Conducts service calls and pre-wires
residences. Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property,
loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris.
• Contacts customers prior to the date of scheduled installation
to verify schedule.
• Prepares estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions
or directions of supervisor.
• Follows proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up
procedures. Tests operation of system to the signal-receiving center to properly
establish service. Reads building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints as
Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and
handles necessary records for notification of emergency calls.
1.) 1 year experience Running/Fishing/Terminating network cables
(Cat5, Cat6, and Coaxial). The candidate will have to attach wires to a rod or
fish tape to pull wires through a pathway behind a wall to set up the security
systems. Candidates will have to terminate(Crimp on ends) of the network
2.) 1 year experience working in commercial or residential
security field. Candidate must be customer facing and adapt to requests by
customers. Candidate needs to communicate with the customer and be comfortable
to work in someone's home. This includes an understanding of how to to properly
set up equipment in a home (don't put a sensor too low and hang so it is tucker
in a corner and our of a way. Another situation may be don't leave a cable
exposed so someone walking by could trip or damage the cable.)
3.) 1 year experience programming alarm systems and security
panels. It will require certain panels to be programmed and
configured to communicate from the User (if they wanted to control it from
their smart phone) and communicate sharing any alerts.
4) Candidate needs to have a reliable vehicle with room to fit a
6 ft. ladder or a folding ladder and inventory.
Candidate needs to be technically savvy, very familiar with how
to use smart phone.
Will also consider candidates who do not have a security install
within their experience but are very handy, have their own hand tools and have an ability
to learn, they are also open to candidates who have come from an electrician or
Best Buy Geek Squad experience.
There is a training period of 2-8 weeks where there is a
training rate of $15/hr until the technician graduates training, then they will
be paid their standard rate.
