About the role:
As a Parts Specialist, you will support the Spare Parts Business at Westinghouse Newington Operations in multiple aspects of bidding/proposal work and execution of awarded orders.
You will report to the Component Delivery Manager and be located at Newington, NH. This is a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days onsite.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Engineering Managers to lead internal estimates for spare parts opportunities
- Determine make/buy decisions for parts and components
- Communicate appropriate information to Sourcing to solicit bids
- Take ownership for the status of all estimates and expedite to meet customer due dates
- Develop plans to minimize and reduce exceptions and clarifications to bids
- Coordinate with quality assurance to develop item specific QA plans and estimates
- Participate in continuous improvement plans to reduce proposal cycle time
- Oversee the successful launch of newly awarded Parts orders, including kickoff and initiation.
- Collaborate with sales, project, engineering, design and operations in their planning processes and scheduling with work-in-progress production updates, fabrication completion and delivery updates.
- Assist production leaders to create and instruct credible production plans and schedules that balance available capacity and resources.
- Plan and manage inventory for work in progress, including surplus and excess inventory.
- Assist other departments during execution (sourcing, inspection, Quality Assurance, production control) to resolve issues such as nonconformances
- We will consider any type of degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field or relevant years of experience in lieu of the degree.
- 2+ years of experience required
- Build a foundation in spare parts management, production planning, and order execution
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with engineering, sourcing, quality, and operations teams
- Detail-oriented with an interest in cost estimating, inventory control, and planning
- Interpret technical documentation such as bills of material, drawings, or specifications (from coursework, internships, or projects)
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills and a willingness to support issue resolution during order execution
- Open to learning ERP/MRP systems (such as SAP) and structured manufacturing processes
- Motivated to contribute to continuous improvement projects and refine planning or proposal processes
- Work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining accuracy
