Job Description
Operate as the sole pharmacy representative in a hospital retail pharmacy. This role involves reviewing prescriptions for accuracy, legality, and clinical appropriateness, dispensing medications, counseling patients on dosage, side effects, and interactions, and recommending over-the-counter products while providing general health advice. Additionally, manage inventory to ensure the availability and proper storage of medications, maintain records, and ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy and legality.
- Dispense medications and counsel patients on dosage and potential side effects.
- Provide guidance on over-the-counter products and general health advice.
- Manage inventory and ensure proper storage of medications.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations.
- Communicate with prescribers to clarify orders and support treatment plans.
- Support training initiatives and enhance workflow efficiency.
- Monitor for adverse reactions and promote safe medication practices.
Essential Skills
- Active NJ Pharmacy License
- PharmD or equivalent degree in Pharmacy
- Minimum 2 years of retail pharmacy experience
- Proficiency in pharmacy management systems such as scripting and inventory tracking
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with telehealth safety and compliance
- Familiarity with medications such as Semaglutide and Tirzepatide
Work Environment
This position involves working in a solo environment without additional staff on-site. The pharmacy currently processes 20-25 prescriptions per day, with potential to increase volume over time. Prescriptions include pediatric medications, multivitamins, cough syrups, and orders from same-day surgery, ER, and the local community. Delivery service is provided twice a week to specified locations. The work schedule is typically from 9 am to 5 pm, with coverage needed on Wednesdays and Fridays until a permanent solution is found. The work environment promotes teamwork, ongoing training, and leadership development, ensuring a secure and ethical framework for pharmacists.
