Lead Desktop Support Technician (Contract)
Location: New Jersey (Multi-site travel required)
Duration: Late May / June start through September 18, 2026
Pay Rate: $30/hour
Schedule: 40 hours/week (8-hour days)
Overtime: Available as needed (including weekends)
Overview
We are hiring Lead Desktop Support Technicians to support a large-scale, multi-site technology deployment project across New Jersey. This is a hands-on role focused on PC imaging, workstation deployment, and end-user support, with opportunities to take ownership of workstreams across multiple locations.
This is a fast-moving project with immediate start dates and strong potential for consistent hours through completion.
Project Staffing Timeline
4 Lead Technicians: May 25 – September 18
4 Lead Technicians: June 22 – September 18
Additional Field Technicians will join later to support the rollout
Key Responsibilities
Lead PC imaging, configuration, and deployment efforts across multiple sites
Provide hands-on desktop support (break/fix, troubleshooting, peripherals)
Support device refresh and rollout initiatives
Assist end users with setup, migrations, and issue resolution
Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely completion of deployments
Travel between assigned sites as needed to support project demands
Act as a point of contact / lead resource for field technicians when applicable
Work Structure
Initial assignment at a Primary or Secondary location
Later transition to Hub locations during deployment phases
Select Lead Techs will act as regional floaters supporting multiple sites
Requirements
2–5+ years of desktop support / field technician experience
Strong experience with:
PC imaging (SCCM, MDT, or similar tools preferred)
Hardware setup, troubleshooting, and swaps
Windows environments and user support
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume deployment environment
Strong communication and customer service skills
Reliable transportation required (daily travel between NJ sites)
Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed
Project Expectations
Must be available for full project duration once started
Must be open to overtime and weekend shifts during peak rollout periods
Required availability over Labor Day Weekend (Sat/Sun/Mon)
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience supporting large-scale hardware rollouts or refresh projects
Comfortable working across multiple locations and teams
Able to take ownership and operate with minimal supervision
Prior experience as a lead or senior desktop technician is a strong plus
