Description:
The primary role of the Program Coordinator I position is to coordinate American Sign Language (ASL), Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART), and captioning of course materials for students approved for accommodations at all Rutgers campuses. This position is responsible for providing services in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1998, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments of 2008. Duties will include, but not be limited to: working with students who are Deaf, hard of hearing or in need of communication access; determining appropriate accommodations for their courses; coordinating services for all of their courses, meetings, or events; managing all communications with vendors, and tracking vendor invoices to insure appropriate billing.

Preferred Qualities/Skills: Preferred ASL. Highly preferred knowledge of Deaf Culture. Time Management Skill and tracking/documentation. If they come from higher education - teacher, admin, etc - someone who has interacted with the deaf community, that will be a plus because this person will be the middle man for professors and students recieving accomodations
