Patient Service Specialist
Location: Rio Grande, NJ
We are seeking a Patient Service Specialist to provide exceptional front‑desk and patient support services in a fast‑paced healthcare environment. This role is ideal for someone with strong customer service skills who enjoys working directly with patients and supporting daily office operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and register patients; explain visit expectations and assist with check‑out and next appointment scheduling
- Schedule patient appointments in person and over the phone
- Communicate regularly with attorney offices, insurance companies, translation services, operational leaders, and business development partners
- Collect co‑pays, manage payer approvals, and complete insurance authorizations and verifications
- Prepare patient intake forms prior to appointments to ensure timely service
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations as required
- Counsel patients on financial responsibility at time of service
- Meet quality assurance goals and adhere to established procedures for securing and reconciling payments
- Resolve issues through clear, professional communication with internal and external contacts
- Maintain a clean and safe front‑office environment
Work Schedule
Monday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Tuesday: 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Thursday: 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Friday: 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Qualifications & Skills
Prior customer service experience and professional work experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive or difficult patient interactions
Comfortable using desktop computers, Microsoft Office, and multi‑line office phone systems
Experience in a customer‑facing role (healthcare, retail, hospitality, or similar)
Open to recent college graduates with a completed 4‑year degree, even without prior professional experience or internships
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required
