***Oversees the operations and administration of several departments within a LEVEL III laboratory environment.***
Scope of Supervision: Must be onsite to provide direct supervision when high complexity testing is performed by qualified testing personnel.
1.Is accessible personnel at all times while testing is performed to provide onsite telephone or electronic consultation to resolve technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures established by either the Laboratory Director or Technical Supervisor.
2.Provides day to day supervision of high complexity test performance.
3.Monitors test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytical performance are maintained.
4.Assures that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications if delegated by the Laboratory Director or Technical Supervisor todo so.
5.Ensures that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning if delegated by the Laboratory Director or Technical Supervisor to do so.
6.Provides orientation to all testing personnel if delegated by the Laboratory Director or Technical Supervisor to do so.
7.Evaluates and documents the performance of all testing personnel annually if delegated by the Laboratory Director or Technical Supervisor to do so.
8.Performs those duties as outlined in the incumbent’s LabCorp title job description.
Administrative: Ability to relate professionally with people, analytical abilities, compose letters/memorandum, coordinate events, motivate others, organizational skills, research information, time management, train employees, written and verbal communications, supervisory skills.
Machine: Calculator, personal computer.
Physical Demands: Speech clarity, utilization of fingers and hands, standing-remaining on one’s feet in an upright position, sitting-remaining in the normal seated position, handling-seizing, holding, grasping. Additional job duty (as assigned): (Hazardous Chemical Waste Management) Proper identification of known hazardous material in the work place. The knowledge of personal protection measures. The avoidance of accidents. The knowledge of hazardous waste characteristics, hazardous waste volume generation limits, accumulation limits, spill control measures, record keeping, proper handling and container management, labeling, container and storage inspection.
Working Conditions: Possible exposure to infection from disease-bearing specimens; regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases; must comply with applicable safety procedures.
Vision Requirements: Far acuity-ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more; near acuity-ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less; depth perception-ability to judge distance and space relationships; color vision-ability to distinguish and identify different colors.
License/Certification/Education: Requires a B.S./B.A. Degree w/3-5 year’s experience and must meet CLIA requirements.
