Responsibilities
•
A key partner and influencer in driving project procurement requirements throughout the sales, engineering, planning and installation lifecycle of turn-key solutions in the automated material handling industry
•
Participate in front end procurement planning, development, and release of RFP/RFQs, prepare bid analysis, and select suppliers considering all data and determining factors pertaining to a project
•
Maintain a positive and professional approach while addressing multiple objectives
•
Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work, and a high level of independent judgment
•
Monitor sales forecast to identify future supply requirements in the pipeline and proactively ensure the right suppliers are in place and will have capacity to satisfy demand
•
Engage with sales and engineering in early stages of a project to develop the procurement plan
•
Evaluate supply and cost in relation to the project requirements to identify areas of risk and opportunities to mitigate
•
Prepare and release RFP/RFQ packages and review bids for completeness and accuracy
•
Lead the selection of preferred bidders based on cost, competitiveness, and ability to fulfill project scope
•
Maintain historic cost information and advice project team on current costs of products and services in support of budget development
•
Lead the communication and negotiations with suppliers
•
Manage relationships with current suppliers as well as identify and qualify new suppliers
•
Ensure that suppliers meet requirements for quality, delivery, safety, and total cost
•
Balance preferences and demands from stakeholders against project objectives and procurement standards to ensure that business and procurement objectives are met
•
Execute purchase orders through the purchasing life cycle
•
Maintain agreements, contracts, and other procurement/purchasing records
•
Participate in the development and creation of policies, procedures, and process improvements
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field such as Supply Chain Management, Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
•
Minimum 5 years of related experience, specifically a minimum of 4 years related to capital project procurement, supply chain management, or project management pertaining to industrial construction or installation of industrial equipment
•
Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics GP or SAP
•
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience is acceptable
•
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
•
Good interpersonal and influencing skills
•
Ability to effectively negotiate and maintain good working relationships in a professional manner
•
Ability to effectively lead decision-making process for cross-functional team to ensure project goals and objectives are met
•
Possess a working knowledge of automated material handling equipment design concepts and specifications or of mechanical and electrical principles
•
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints
•
Ability to summarize complex situations and provide clear recommendations
•
Ability to deal with fluid situations, incomplete information and be flexible
•
Good time management and ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines
•
Working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Email applications; must be proficient with Microsoft Excel
