Description:

• Under the supervision of the Design Standards Unit Manager and the Assistant Manager, the selected candidate (Plumbing/fire protection engineer) will be responsible for review fire protection, fire alarm, and plumbing design documents for tenant projects (TAA) and design audit, and project processing for Port Authority (PA) facilities to ensure compliance with applicable building codes and Port Authority technical standards.
• Specific responsibilities include: downloading the electronic TAA submissions, previewing construction documents, hydraulic calculations, specifications, and reports for completeness with codes and standards;
• Coordinating the review comments from others technical disciplines and preparing memoranda for transmitting comments to the line departments;
• Attend meeting with tenant Architect/Engineer of Records to discuss the review comments and resolve the issues;
• Assigning various technical disciplines for code review, and communicating with PA facilities to process TAA and design audit projects.
• Layout of plumbing and fire protection systems
• Equipment layout and sizing
• International Mechanical Code, Plumbing Code and Fire Code
• ASME B31.1 Power Piping/ ASME B3.9 Building Services Piping Designs
• NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems

Skills:

Must Have:

• B.S. Mechanical Engineer degree
• 7+ years of design experience
• Software: AutoCAD and Revit
• Nice to have: P.E. or E.I.T. License
