Meta is seeking a Research Engineer to join our Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) Team, a research organization focused on making significant progress in AI. Individuals in this role are expected to be experts in responsible AI, AI ethics and/or AI safety. Candidates should have a keen interest in measuring and mitigating social biases in ML-based models.

FAIR - Research Engineer, Responsible AI / AI Safety Responsibilities:
  • Perform research to advance the science and technology of intelligent machines.
  • Develop highly scalable algorithms based on machine learning and neural network methodologies.
  • Collaborate with FAIR scientists on novel research measuring and mitigating social biases in generative models for language and/or vision.
  • Apply knowledge of relevant research domains along with expert coding skills to system and framework development projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Masters Degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 or more years experience with responsible AI in the topic areas of NLP and/or CV.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
  • Experience in analyzing and collecting data from various sources.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in computer science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Industry research experience in generative AI and LLM research.
  • First-authored publications at peer-reviewed conferences, such as ACL, EMNLP, ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, ACM FAccT and other similar venues.
  • Software engineer experience demonstrated via work experience.
  • High performance code and profiling experience.
