Responsibilities

The Lead Mechanical Engineer is responsible for creating mechanical designs within the constraints determined by the given project, time, cost, and performance as well as the following:

- Estimating engineering hours required for a project

- Mechanical design using SolidWorks (3D CAD Design, mechanical detailing, dimensioning, and tolerances, and following drawing procedures)

- Coordinating electrical design with Electrical Engineer

- Machine documentation, including bill of materials

- Project checking; Manufacturing assembly support; Project reporting and documentation

- Knowledge of Electrical design (electrical enclosure layout and design, understanding of electrical schematics)

- Knowledge of PLC programming (create operating sequence for machines)

- Hydraulic design (design and troubleshoot hydraulics)

- Pneumatic design (design and troubleshoot pneumatics)

- Coordinating all documentation including shop manuals, customer manuals, and engineering manuals

- Supporting and troubleshooting engineering issues with assembly technicians. Be available to answer questions and provide support to the foreman and/or assembly technicians
