Job Summary:
As a Hybrid Tax Consultant, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive tax services to our clients, ensuring compliance with sales tax, use tax, property tax, and other ad hoc tax requirements. You will be responsible for managing bank reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and utilizing Infor software for tax reporting and analysis. Your expertise will not only aid in maintaining accurate financial records but will also provide strategic insights to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Tax and Use Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and file state and local sales and use tax returns.
- Advise clients on sales tax compliance matters, exemptions, and audits.
Property Tax Management:
- Assist clients with property tax assessments, appeals, and filings.
- Monitor property tax deadlines and ensure timely submissions.
Ad Hoc Tax Projects:
- Provide assistance for miscellaneous tax projects as needed.
- Conduct tax research and analysis to support client needs and improve processes.
Financial Management:
- Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy in financial records.
- Prepare and enter journal entries in accordance with best practices.
Utilization of Infor Software:
- Use Infor for tax-related reporting and data analysis.
- Collaborate with the finance team to integrate tax functions within the workflow.
Client Engagement:
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their tax needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients based on trust and transparency.
Preferred Qualifications:
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree or CPA is a plus.
Experience:
- Proven experience in sales tax, use tax, property tax, and general tax consulting.
- Familiarity with pension tax regulations is advantageous.
- Experience working with non-profit organizations and familiarity with the 990 form is a distinct advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting and tax software (Infor and others).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex tax concepts in an understandable manner.
