Job Title: Field Service Technician - Baggage Systems


Job Description

Join our dynamic commissioning team as a Field Service Technician. You will be responsible for utilizing RS Logix and proprietary software to ensure proper functionality and configuration of various system devices. This role involves extensive troubleshooting and collaboration with other teams to ensure seamless operations. Must have experience in baggage handling systems.


Responsibilities

  • Verify correct IP addresses and troubleshoot any discrepancies.
  • Ensure MCP I/O installation is accurate and properly labeled.
  • Test estop functionality ensuring correct zones stop when activated, and align HMI alarms, beacon lights, and horns with the stopped zone.
  • Check field I/O using site-specific software and HMI for proper functionality of devices such as push buttons, estops, sirens, VFDs, motors, encoders, and beacon lights.
  • Assign VFD settings as per site schematics.
  • Record missing scaling of belt speed and document it on the checklist.
  • Communicate any installation issues to the install team in writing for correction.
  • Record site changes on drawings as redlines and provide updates to the client.
  • Conduct functional checks for each system device, ensuring all downstream events are correct.
  • Troubleshoot devices and assist the client’s team in identifying potential logic issues.
  • Collaborate with the client team for efficient logic edits and issue resolution.
  • Perform Level Three Checkout tests during final commissioning stages, including tracking offsets, PLC reason code testing, and AEG heartbeat testing.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in electrical, mechanical, and schematic diagram interpretation.
  • Experience in baggage handling systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC and VFD operations.
  • Expertise in I/O checkout and troubleshooting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with control station functionality checks.
  • Understanding of PE Jam, full functionality, and encoder functionality.
  • Proficiency in stacklight functionality assessments.

Work Environment

This position requires 100% travel and involves working 2nd shift hours. The role provides an exciting opportunity to work on-site in diverse environments, collaborating with various teams to ensure successful commissioning.
