Description:

This company is seeking an Electrical Engineer who has experience with industrial power systems such as glass furnace electric boosting systems, electric furnace and ovens, load tap changers and SCR controls.


Responsibilities:

  • Take an active part in client contact and business development activities. Preparing preparation of contract proposals by defining scope and providing estimates for engineering work
  • Delegate and oversee project teams
  • Technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating engineering assignments
  • Act as owners representative on selected projects and meet regularly with client to present project progress and assure satisfaction
  • Assist clients with power studies, utility company coordination, medium voltage substation design, and specifications for electrical equipment and systems
  • Develop contractor installation/construction packages including conduit/cable tray installation drawings, equipment location plans/elevations and specifications
  • Develop electrical schematics including low-voltage power distribution, PLC I/O drawings and 480V motor 1-line and 3-line schematics
  • Coordinate interface with electrical contractors onsite to oversee construction and answer technical questions

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • engineering experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments required- glass, steel, or graphite industry preferred
  • Experience with industrial power systems such as glass furnace electric boosting systems, electric furnaces and ovens, load top changers, and SCR controls
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering and six (6) or more years of related practical experience preferred
  • Preference for candidates with experience in power studies, medium voltage substation design, and specifications for electrical equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge of project design, cost estimation, and scheduling
  • Good computer and communication skills
  • Ability to work and communicate in an independent and team-oriented environment
  • Ability and desire to travel for field assignments


Work Environment

  • Travel usually varies from 20% to 40% and may include international travel to Latin America or Canada
