Responsibilities
- Accurately assist in filling prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
- Measure, count, and package medications per prescription guidelines.
- Affix appropriate labels with dosage instructions and safety warnings.
- Input prescription and patient data into pharmacy software systems.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure availability.
- Conduct inventory checks and rotate stock to prevent expired medications.
- Safely dispose of expired or recalled products in compliance with regulations.
- Greet patients and respond to inquiries in a courteous, professional manner.
- Assist with prescription drop-off and pick-up processes.
- Perform routine checks on pharmacy equipment and storage conditions.
- Participate in quality control efforts, including expiration date monitoring and cleanliness standards.
- Support a clean, organized, and compliant work environment.
- Follow all applicable laws and guidelines related to pharmacy operations and controlled substances.
- Adhere to safety protocols for handling medications and hazardous materials.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a state-approved pharmacy technician training program preferred.
- Must be registered with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Registered or Certified Technician.
- National certification (PTCB) is preferred.
- Familiarity with pharmacy terminology and prescription abbreviations.
- Understanding of pharmacy laws and ethical standards.
- Strong communication and active listening skills.
- Proficiency in basic math and pharmacy software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Prior experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting is advantageous.
- Compounding experience is highly preferred.
- Sterile Compounding is more preferred, non-sterile will still be good.
- Entry-level: (0-5 months) compounding experience.
- Moderate: (6 months - 1 year) experience.
- Proficient: 2 years experience.
- Advanced: 3+ years experience.
The position requires working in the compounding (fulfillment) space, not retail. The work schedule offers 2nd shift options: $24 for a 2-10pm shift or $25 for a 4-12pm shift. No weekends required, but available as an option if desired. Employees will stand for extended periods and must be capable of lifting up to 40 pounds. Manual dexterity and visual acuity are essential for reading prescriptions and handling medications.
