Job Description
We are seeking an Electrical Controls Designer to join our Production Engineering group. This team is dedicated to the manufacturing of automated equipment for North American manufacturing facilities. The role involves providing high-quality, cost-effective, and timely hardware, software, and safety design solutions to ensure the successful introduction of new models and technologies.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate within an engineering team to understand design requirements for creating or modifying automated production equipment.
- Provide electrical design support to produce engineering hardware data for assembling, building, and wiring control systems for production equipment.
- Develop electrical design to produce engineering software data necessary for accomplishing control tasks for production equipment processes, including PLC, HMI, Motion Control, and Robotic programming.
- Offer on-site support for the installation, system startup, and maturation of control systems for production equipment.
- Develop and maintain critical path schedules for work assignments to ensure control system design deliverables meet overall project milestones for small to medium projects with low to medium complexity.
- Conduct and participate in design reviews to ensure design standards and specifications are met for work assignments.
- Continuously enhance engineering skills by learning new processes, technologies, and expanding knowledge in relevant manufacturing technologies.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical engineering.
- Experience in controls design and controls engineering.
- Robotics expertise.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field.
- PLC knowledge, including familiarity with Mitsubishi, Omron, and other systems.
- PLC programming from scratch and troubleshooting experience.
- Expertise in designing electrical schematics and using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Experience with control panel and control system design.
- Ability to travel to facilities in Georgia, Indiana, Alabama, Canada, and Mexico, approximately 20% of the time.
- Willingness to work overtime, averaging 10 hours per week, and occasional weekends.
The work environment is centered around automated equipment manufacturing. The role involves travel 20% of the time and requires occasional weekend work. This position offers a long-term consulting opportunity with the potential for hire.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Marysville, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $40.00/hr.
