Summary:
The Hygiene Assistant provides efficient assistance for the dentist and/or dental hygienist and individualized instruction and guidance to all Dental Clinic and School based patients.
Responsibilities:
- Provides efficient assistance for the Dentist and/or Dental Hygienist and individualized instruction and guidance to all Dental Clinic or School based patients.
- Demonstrates competent Hygiene Assistant responsibilities in providing age-appropriate care and service to patients
- Participates in the educational, safety and quality efforts of the Dental Practice and School Health
- Other duties as required.

Technical Expertise
- Experience as a chairside assistant in “4-handed dentistry” is preferred.
- Experience treating and teaching healthy and medically compromised patients is preferred.
- Experience with electronic medical records is preferred.
- Experience working with various levels within an organization is preferred.
- Experience in healthcare is preferred.
- Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is preferred.
Education and Experience
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of an accredited dental assistant training program or the equivalent in applicable experience is required. Associate's degree preferred.
- Certification: Current certificate to practice dental radiography in State of Ohio is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) required or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Years of relevant experience: Minimum 2 or more years of clinical experience in dental assisting preferred.
- Years of experience supervising: None.
