Description:

We are seeking a Corporate Tax Specialist in our corporate headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. This position is responsible for federal income taxes, state and local income taxes, franchise taxes, gross receipts taxes, business licenses and all associated payments. In addition, this position is responsible for providing information for Canadian income tax, GST tax calculations and payments, as well as Section 102 and 105 waivers. This person will assist in the preparation of our income tax information, support the tax due diligence for any mergers and acquisitions and assist in tax research and preparation and other duties as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.

At least 2 years of Corporate, S-Corporation, or Partnership income tax experience is required; however, additional years of experience are preferred.

A CPA is preferred.

Canadian Income tax and GST tax experience is preferred.

High level analytical ability and strong business decision making are required.

Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Extensive knowledge of Excel is required.

Experience with SAP, or similar ERP software is desired.

Key Duties:

Responsible for the preparation/providing information timely for federal and state and local tax returns including income tax, franchise tax, gross receipts tax, and business licenses. Work effectively as a member of the tax group.

Handle Canadian information gathering for preparation of income tax returns and calculate and pay GST tax payments as well as obtaining necessary waivers.

Must be able to effectively communicate and cooperate with outside tax advisors.

Maintain and update the tax calendar with due dates, to ensure the company is compliant and in good standing in all jurisdictions.

Research and respond to state and local regulatory agencies' notices. Correspond with federal, state, and local tax authorities in connection with penalty notices and filing inquiries as needed.

Perform technical tax research and prepare documentation required to support tax positions as needed.

Gathers management and accounting information for the preparation of our income tax returns and other duties as assigned.

Conducts research as necessary to determine compliance with the tax laws. Reads periodicals to maintain knowledge about changing tax laws, planning opportunities, filing requirements, etc.
