This group sits in a separate building really close to the R&D facility. They have an automotive area which looks like automotive service bays. (Like if you were going to get your car fixed at a dealership). The group is responsible for warranty issues on cars after they are sold. 4 year warranty's for Acura's and 3years for Honda's. The Market quality group has a few different departments (Engine, Transmission, Electrical, Etc) This role is in the transmission group. Someone who has an understanding how a transmission work will excel in this role. They work to solve problems that are going on with cars that were recently sold. The role is 50% hands on and 50% behind a desk. Job Purpose: Market Quality (MQ) engineers conduct activities to support meeting prescribed department performance measures/targets, progress and countermeasure implementation when necessary to ensure department results. Key Accountabilities: Perform analysis of failed warranty parts; Subject components & vehicles to test conditions in effort to identify failures & simulate possible causes/influences. Identify warranty problems related to design, manufacturing, or sales/service influences – promote/carry-out investigations. Perform cause determination. Perform technical writing/documentation/reporting & present summaries to quality management. Communicate with suppliers, design and service to appropriately support problem investigation & resolution. Work with responsible departments/suppliers to facilitate appropriate problem containment. Support cost recovery efforts & negotiations by meaningfully examining warranty data & associated analysis record. Pass/fail judgement of warranty claim parts/systems. Problem cause determination. Observational assessments & determination of outside or atypical influence, misuse, or abuse by customers or misdiagnosis by service. Evaluate test data/observations and compile for presentation to Mentor and/or Tech Leader for problem criticality assessment. Required Knowledge and Skills: Ability to technically investigate, derive conclusions from observations/data and analytically approach problem cause phenomena. Ability to take timely action to disposition incoming warranty claims and promote appropriate categorization. Ability to analyze warranty parts within established targets (rank dependent); Maintain integrity in analysis methods. Understanding of quality investigations with technical report preparation support. Ability to support warranty problem investigations; communicate with Supplier and Design for countermeasure request. Required Experience: Minimum of three months of relevant experience based on education. Required Education: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Electrical Technology or Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
