Job Description
This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC milling machines to produce high-precision components in a team-based manufacturing environment. The role involves interpreting blueprints and GD&T, programming and adjusting CNC controls, monitoring machine performance, and ensuring that all parts meet established quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines to produce high-precision components according to specifications.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, GD&T, and written work instructions to determine machining requirements.
- Use G and M code to set up, adjust, and run CNC programs on mills and, when needed, lathes.
- Operate CNC equipment, including Haas machines, to machine parts to required tolerances.
- Monitor machine performance during production and troubleshoot mechanical or programming issues as they arise.
- Perform basic inspections of parts using appropriate measuring tools to verify dimensions and quality.
- Make necessary adjustments to tooling, offsets, and machine parameters to maintain part quality and efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift.
- Return tools, fixtures, and measuring devices to their proper storage locations after use.
- Follow all established safety, quality, and company procedures while operating machinery and handling materials.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and resolve technical issues.
- Proven experience setting up and operating CNC milling machines in a production or job-shop environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, including GD&T symbols and requirements.
- Working knowledge of G and M code for CNC programming and adjustments.
- Hands-on experience operating CNC machines, with familiarity in both mill and lathe operations.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot basic CNC machine and process issues.
- Ability to perform basic part inspections using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Consistent adherence to safety, quality, and standard operating procedures in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain tight tolerances on precision components.
- Effective communication skills to work within a team-based production environment.
- Experience working with Haas CNC machines is preferred.
- Previous machinist experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with both CNC milling and turning processes.
- Strong organizational skills to manage tools, fixtures, and work area.
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions and production documentation.

Work Environment
This role is based in a hands-on manufacturing environment operating CNC milling machines, and at times lathes, including Haas equipment. Work is performed on the shop floor around running machinery, requiring consistent attention to safety procedures and use of appropriate personal protective equipment. The environment is team-oriented and process-focused, with a strong emphasis on maintaining a clean, organized work area and returning tools to designated storage locations at the end of use or shift. Standard production hours apply, with work centered on meeting machining schedules and quality standards.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mcminnville, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
