Job Title: Float Phlebotomist

Job Description

We are hiring 10 float Phlebotomist for a large medical provider around the Portland area! Positions are available for both Portland-West Side Float and Portland-East Side Float.


As a Float Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for greeting patients as they enter the lab, performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating equipment, and updating patient information. You will collect and store specimens according to established procedures, clearly explain the venipuncture process or other specimen collections, and demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. You must fully understand all of the physicians' orders, match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order, and ensure all test requisitions or computer labels match the script for 100% accuracy. Other responsibilities include packaging specimens for transport, storing specimens at required temperatures, and complying with OSHA and DEP regulations. You will also handle insurance, billing, process samples, and provide excellent customer service to patients.

  • 6+ months of Phlebotomy experience
  • Venipuncture experience
  • Specimen Collection experience
  • Straight Needle & Butterfly Needle experience

  • Customer Service Skills

Job Type

This is a contract position with a duration of 3 Month(s).


Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Portland, Oregon.


Work Environment

You will work in a lab environment. The schedule is Monday through Friday with rotating Saturdays, working 8-hour shifts for a total of 40 hours per week. Start times can be as early as 6:00 AM and end times as late as 6:30 PM. Schedules are issued every two weeks but can change based on location needs. The initial contract duration is 3 months, with the potential for extensions up to 6-9 months, and possible direct hire based on performance and business needs.
