Mechanical Engineer

Actalent is looking to add consulting talent to a client site in the mid-valley area, specifically in the areas of mechanical engineering, design and drafting. Our customer is a world class manufacturer of custom systems used in industries such as automated packaging, food processing and sorting, and other relatable applications. There is consistent sales growth here, so this consultant-to-hire opportunity should be seen as a great possible longterm professional situation.

We are specifically looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer (ideally 10+ years) and possibly a Mechanical Drafter/Designer as well. This posting covers both and applications from either profile will be reviewed.

Duties (included but not limited to):

• Develop concepts and produce complex SolidWorks 3D design models/assemblies and drawings for new product designs.
• Convert previous AutoCAD 2D designs, parts, and assemblies to SolidWorks 3D models/assemblies.
• Transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using SolidWorks
• Conduct standard engineering duties such as spec-ing equipment, performing engineering calculations and FEA, among others

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 10+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience required for the Sr. ME; 2-3+ years professional CAD experience for the drafter/designer
• SolidWorks highly preferred, but Inventor or other similar parametric modeling software may suffice (SolidWorks familiarity in this case)
• Experience MUST come from heavy equipment/machine background:
  • Aggregate, mining, or recycling equipment
  • Heavy industrial processing or material handling equipment
  • Off-highway mobile equipment such as tractors, farm equipment, tanks, bulldozers, etc.
  • Other heavy industry machinery or equipment ideally containing things like gears, chain drives, pneumatic or hydraulic systems, powertrain systems, conveyors, etc.
• Working on design of systems that involve stainless steel, sheet metal, weldments, etc.
• FEA and GD&T experience, and leadership skills all coveted for the Sr. ME
