About the role:
Contractor Oversight position for a Dry Fuel Storage (Dry Cask Storage) project focuses on ensuring vendor compliance with safety standards. It also ensures compliance with technical and regulatory standards during the loading, transport, and storage of spent nuclear fuel. You will be monitoring of vendor activities to ensure work is completed and within budget. You will report to the onsite Manager
Duration: June 8, 2026, to September 28, 2026
Plant: Susquehanna Steam Electric Station in Berwick, PA 18603
Key Responsibilities:
• Vendor and Contractor Oversight: Monitor vendor performance, ensuring compliance with procedures, Technical Specifications, and Quality Assurance (QA) requirements.
• Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Implement and enforce As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) practices to minimize radiation exposure and maintain compliance with NRC regulations.
• Documentation Review: Review and approve technical documents, including welding records, Nondestructive Examination (NDE) reports, and personnel qualification records.
• Field Surveillance: Perform onsite observations and inspections of cask loading, handling, and movement operations.
• Project Controls: Monitor project schedules, track expenses against budget, and provide forecasts for capital expenditures.
• Incident Investigation: Investigate incidents and oversee cleanup operations if spills or releases occur, ensuring they comply with safety regulations.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Science, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: Previous experience in the nuclear spent fuel transport/storage industry often requiring 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in project scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, P6)
• Requirements: Must have the ability to work in a high-compliance, safety-critical environment and the ability to travel to multiple sites.
