Job Description
Join a long-established, family-owned furniture manufacturer as a Production Worker, helping to produce high-quality solid wood home and contract furnishings. In this hands-on role, you work in a woodworking shop environment, using hand and power tools to create, assemble, and prepare furniture components while maintaining high standards of quality, precision, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Produce solid wood furniture and components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Operate basic woodworking hand and power tools safely and efficiently, with training provided as needed.
- Load, unload, stack, and move wood materials throughout the production process.
- Perform sanding, drilling, assembly, and finishing preparation tasks according to work instructions.
- Inspect products for quality, accuracy, and workmanship, ensuring they meet established standards.
- Follow detailed work instructions, production schedules, and all safety procedures consistently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift.
- Process solid wood by matching wood pieces, identifying and removing defects, and stacking wood planks properly.
- Apply glue and assist with gluing operations to assemble wood components.
- Cut edges of wood to ensure straight, smooth, and accurate dimensions.
- Use a tape measure and basic math skills to verify measurements and tolerances.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Willingness to learn new skills and processes in a woodworking production environment.
- Reliability and strong work ethic, including consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly during the shift.
- Ability to stand for the entirety of the shift and perform repetitive tasks.
- Strong attention to detail when inspecting, measuring, and assembling products.
- Comfort using basic hand tools and power tools, with training provided.
- Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions and safety procedures.
- Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to read and use a tape measure.
- Previous experience in production, general labor, or general manufacturing is helpful but not required.
- Experience with woodworking, including sanding, drilling, and assembly, is a plus.
- Familiarity with machine operation in a manufacturing or shop environment is beneficial.
- Background in quality assurance or product inspection is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain focus and accuracy in a loud, dusty environment.
- Comfort working both independently and as part of a production team.

Work Environment
This role is based in a woodworking shop environment that is dusty and loud, with active machinery and ongoing production throughout the shift. You work either 1st shift (Monday–Thursday, 5:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) or 2nd shift (Monday–Thursday, 3:00 p.m.–1:30 a.m.), and you receive one 10-minute paid break and a 30-minute unpaid lunch each day. The work is physically active, involving standing for the full shift, lifting up to 50 pounds, and moving materials and products around the facility. Casual attire such as shorts, t-shirts, and sneakers is acceptable, provided it is safe and appropriate for a shop environment.

This is a Contract position based out of State College, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
