We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our consulting team at a customer site in Coopersburg, PA. EASi has had a team on site for over a decade, allowing our consultants to work on development projects for high end home automation and lighting systems. This role will initially entail design and modeling work as well as hands-on testing and prototyping, qualification of parts and capabilities studies as well as creation of technical drawings and performing tolerance analysis
Work will be done in Creo and AutoCAD to do 2D and 3D design drawings and modeling. This will be full life cycle design work. Anyone who's used to doing "design only" work will not be a good fit for this role.
The work will entail:
1) Qualify new injection molded parts
a. Perform measurement study on newly injection molded parts.
b. Work with vendor to make any necessary changes.
c. Qualify vendor/mold capability
d. Create necessary design specifications.
2) Tooling design in support of manufacturing
a. Generate quick prototype tooling/fixturing in support of engineering builds
b. Design assembly tooling for production
c. Perform capability study and signoff for safety
d. Create tool drawings and complete necessary documentation
3) Cavitation of molded parts for shipping design
a. Build up units to test all cavities of the multi-cavity tools.
b. Setup and execute testing on units.
c. Perform measurement study on newly injection molded parts.
d. Work with vendor to make any necessary changes.
e. Qualify vendor/mold capability
f. Create necessary design specifications.
g. Aid in the execution of the Alpha/Beta program
4) Aid senior mechanical engineer in new product design
a. Design mechanical parts in support of new product design.
b. Work with cross-functional team to meet all mechanical design requirements.
c. Prototype and test initial design concepts.
d. Conduct design reviews and finalize design approval.
e. Work with vendors to create final parts.
f. Perform all necessary qualification testing
g. Validate final parts and design capability.
The right applicant will have the following skills and experience:
-Individual contributor level experience and ability to function independently. ~ 2 years of professional experience
-Some combination of injection molding, sheet metal, and tooling design is desired
-BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar preferred
-Experience with Creo, Solidworks, or similar design tool
-Exposure to full development lifecycle: design, modeling, prototyping, testing, production
