Position Summary:

Assist in performing analyses and accurately prepares documents for product Safety Data Sheets and manufacturing specifications.

Utilizes knowledge of SAP/WERCS system to assure that regulations concerning MSDS, chemical manufacturing and Toxic Substance Act (TSCA) are addressed. Ensure the company meets customer expectations and distributes its products in compliance with the law. Maintain Product Safety Department files.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in a Life Sciences Field required.  Upper level college courses in chemistry are preferred.

• Previous experience within Regulatory, Safety, Chemical Manufacturing, SAP.

• Three years related work experience with Chemistry and/or Product Safety required.

• Courses in industrial safety or environmental sciences are highly preferred.

• Demonstrated knowledge of DOT, TSCA, OSHA, industrial hygiene, import and export is preferred.

• Effective communication skills, oral and in writing to international and local colleagues required.

• Three to five years of experience with Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint) required.

• SAP skills in materials management preferred.

• Understanding of overall business processes required.

• Ability to maintain confidential business information required.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in performing analyses and accurately prepares documents for product Safety Data Sheets and manufacturing specifications.

• Utilize knowledge of SAP/WERCS system to assure that regulations concerning MSDS, chemical manufacturing and Toxic Substance Act (TSCA) are addressed.  

• Ensure the company meets customer expectations and distributes its products in compliance with the law.

• Maintain Product Safety Department files. 

• Review all (M)SDSs for completeness for subsequent review by HSE Q&S Director’s review of current products’ regulatory compliance utilizing regulatory software database and system.

• Review new product manufacturing specifications in consultation with R&D and Manufacturing.

• Continuously improve product and raw material documentation process.

• Assist in authorizing packaging and labeling.

• Assists in maintaining ERP based product databases.

• Maintain product stewardship documentation to OSAH, DOT, EPA and other relevant standards.

• Maintain all formulation documentation to meet corporate needs. 

• Provide both domestic and international shipments information and serve as an authorized Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) and Shipping Specialist for The Company.

• Maintain all required trainings and certifications in a timely manner and stay updated with regulatory knowledge and compliance. 

• Assists in TSCA determination and compliance.

• Issue final specifications to domestic and international locations as required. 

• Maintain and distribute all chemistry documentation to outside or internal customers. 

• Support Document Control Group as directed by Product Safety Team Lead.

• Work with various departments to ensure all supplier information is filled and is timely.

• Participates on the ISO audit team.

• Administration duties as required, such as:

o Log and calculate amount of labels, advise warehouse of freight code changes by providing labels and MSDS’s to them for Company products involved in changes via SAP/WERCS access to warehouse information and MSDS.

o Other tasks as needed by HSE Q&S Director including updating and distributing regulatory information.
