Purchasing Specialist (Buyer)

Under supervision of Materials Manager, assist with the planning, directing, and
monitoring of projects
. Purchase goods and services, obtain competitive quotes, negotiate prices, and
recommend vendor selection
. Obtain material from suppliers at the lowest cost, with consideration to quality,
reliability, and delivery needs
. Schedule project material deliveries
. Resolve a variety of purchasing issues/problems both internally and externally
. Support special projects in response to various customer and management requests
for one-of-a-kind projects
. Pursue innovations in procurement practices and department procedures that will
improve effectiveness and produce cost savings
. Seek, develop, and establish business relationships with suppliers
. Develop and maintain necessary files and records to maximize job performance
. Obtain Return Authorizations from vendors to return parts and follow up to make sure credit is issued
. Will spend most of their day communicating with vendors
. It is a mixture of negotiated and pre-negotiated buys
. Will be working in Excel and will need intermediate experience working with excel.
- Will be working in a high paced environment and will be doing PO's.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
. 5+ years of experience in similar field (2-4 on low end) (5-7 for higher end salary)
. High school diploma or GED equivalent
. Familiarity with purchasing procedures and practices
. Knowledge of product and service vendor sources
. Ability to analyze varying product and service features, prices, and qualities, and
determine most cost-effective purchases for organization
. Good analytical and problem-solving skills
. Excellent time management skills
. Strong oral communication and
