Job Title: Construction Materials Technician


Job Description

An exciting opportunity awaits an entry-level Construction Materials Technician to test concrete for slump, density, and moisture in our laboratory. The role offers in-house training and the chance to work alongside experienced employees.


Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractor representatives regarding construction site requirements and testing, observation, and inspection results.
  • Transport material samples to the laboratory for further testing and analysis, ensuring all samples are accompanied by identifying documentation.
  • Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in both written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
  • Assist with scheduling and dispatching Technicians to project sites as needed.
  • Adhere to strict safety standards at all times.
  • Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
  • Engage in progressively increased training and responsibility in work assignments.

Essential Skills

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including logging daily field reports and sending emails.
  • Knowledge of concrete testing, materials testing, and concrete inspection.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • ACI certification is a plus.
  • Previous experience in construction materials testing is advantageous.
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in civil engineering, geology, geoscience, or a related field.

Work Environment

Work hours vary from Monday to Sunday, with shifts ranging from 8 to 12 hours per day. During the summer, the role may require longer working hours than in the winter. Due to the nature of the industry, there is no guaranteed 40-hour workweek, although availability after 40 hours is expected. The position offers hands-on training for entry-level civil, geotech, and environmental roles, and includes paid certifications and extra training opportunities. The company is employee-owned and offers profit-sharing benefits.
