Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in blood draws, specimen labeling, and centrifuging. You will be responsible for maintaining data records, decontaminating work areas, and updating patient information. Your role is essential in collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures.

Responsibilities

• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collection clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples according to required temperature and protocols.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
