🚀 Job Opening: PLC Commissioning Engineering Technician

📍Location: Abilene, TX

🔧Industry: Advanced Technology | Automation | Controls

Shift: 10 days on, 4 days off with opportunity for overtime


About the Role

As a PLC Commissioning Engineering Technician, you’ll be at the forefront of cutting-edge capital projects—working hands-on with advanced control systems to help clients optimize performance and achieve mission-critical goals.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, troubleshoot real-world issues, and bring high-tech systems to life. If you thrive in fast-paced environments and love turning plans into reality, this role is for you.


What You’ll Do

  • 🗓️ Coordinate work schedules and manpower forecasts for operations teams.
  • 🛠️ Manage commissioning constraints and resolve post-installation issues in Basebuild utility systems.
  • 🔄 Integrate construction and design timelines with commissioning milestones.
  • 📊 Deliver clear reports and updates on schedule and quality metrics.
  • 👷 Conduct on-site system and facility assessments.
  • 🔍 Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot system failures.
  • 🧠 Train suppliers on commissioning software and manage access.
  • 🤝 Collaborate with engineering teams and client stakeholders.

What You Bring

  • ✅ 2+ years of hands-on experience in commissioning or construction for Instrumentation & Control (I&C)or Electrical Basebuild systems.
  • 🧰 Proficiency with Rockwell Automation,PLC5, and ControlLogix platforms.
  • 🏗️ Experience with large-scale capital projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • 🧠 Strong grasp of Design/Build processes and complex process system architecture.
  • 📐 Deep understanding of P&IDs, device selection, SCADA, and I/O architectures.
  • 🌡️ Familiarity with industrial environments: HVAC, gas/chemical distribution, clean rooms, and more.
  • 🗣️ Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 🎓 Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (or related field).
  • 🎓 Associate’s degree or technical certification in control systems or electrical/mechanical engineering.
  • 🖥️ 3+ years working with control systems in data centers or similar environments.
  • 💡 Experience with BMS, SCADA, and conducting I/O checkouts.
  • 🧩 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • 🤝 Team player with a proactive mindset and attention to detail.
