Inpatient DRG Auditor

Description:

Coding Auditor-

• Coding audits – audit the coding by the vendors for both inpatient and outpatient surgical cases. Provide correct codes when there are errors and site resources that support code choices.

• Pre-service scheduling coding review – review medical records prior to date of service to determine if the correct codes have been used on the physician order to book the surgery.

• Pre-service DRG review – review inpatient cases prior to date of admission to identify comorbidities that may affect DRG assignment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Required CPMA, CIC, OR COC. Not looking for CPC. must be certified through AAPC.

Minimum of 5 years of coding experience in a healthcare setting

Strong knowledge of coding guidelines (e.g., ICD-10, PCS) and documentation requirements

Must have audit experience

Preferred- spine / orthopedic experience
