Job Title: Lab Technician
Job Description
Perform chemical and instrumental analysis on fuels, oils, and other lubricants using standard testing methods as prescribed by ASTM. Conduct analyses on new samples, prepare solutions or solvents for various tests, and transfer samples within the lab. Maintain workbooks and equipment on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis following SOP and TIP test procedures. The lab environment has a distinct fuel/oil smell due to the nature of the samples.
Responsibilities
- Conduct chemical and instrumental analysis on fuels, oils, and other lubricants.
- Perform analyses on newly introduced samples.
- Prepare solutions or solvents for various tests.
- Transfer samples within the lab.
- Maintain workbooks and equipment according to SOP and TIP test procedures.
Essential Skills
- Experience working in a lab environment.
- Proficiency in sample preparation and math calculations.
- Knowledge of the MS Office Suite.
- Ability to perform and record accurate measurements.
- Familiarity with basic lab safety procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School diploma required.
- College chemistry and math or related laboratory experience.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs.
- Recent associate degree in science or recent lab experience through school is a plus.
Work Environment
The work environment is an industrial lab setting focused on research related to automotive products. The shifts run from 6 AM to 3 PM or 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided. The lab has a distinct fuel/oil smell. Training is hands-on with shadowing opportunities to gain true analytical lab experience.
