Job Title: Shift Leader - 3rd Shift


Job Description

The Shift Leader is responsible for supervising a team on the third shift, providing administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of laboratory activities. This role involves directing work assignments, supporting staff development, and contributing to report writing. The Shift Leader also plays a vital role in client communication and relationship building.


Responsibilities

  • Direct and assign responsibilities and tasks to team members.
  • Ensure staff have necessary resources and authority to accomplish tasks.
  • Facilitate professional growth through training and skill development.
  • Provide timely feedback on staff performance and participate in evaluations.
  • Write or contribute to monthly and final reports.
  • Communicate with clients to assess needs and develop beneficial relationships.
  • Perform technical tasks and laboratory analysis using established protocols and SOPs.
  • Review experimental data for completeness and accuracy, ensuring criteria and specifications are met.
  • Note unusual results and report them to the Laboratory or Section Manager.
  • Ensure accurate computer entry and data completeness using LIMS.
  • Develop or revise protocols and SOPs, monitor compliance with Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Arrange specific technical training for staff.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve project, division, and Institute goals.

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of all technical procedures and SOPs required for project tasks.
  • Experience in protein purification, PCR, QPCR, GLP, SOP, CAPA, and LIMS.
  • Technical knowledge to support quality assurance activities including SOP development, risk assessments, CAPAs.
  • PCR/DNA laboratory experience.
  • Experience with King Fisher Machine.
  • Secret clearance needed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • M.S. in a specified study area plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Work Environment

Applicants will undergo a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information, requiring U.S. citizenship. The role requires working the third shift, Saturday through Wednesday from 11:00 pm to 8:00 am.
