Job Title: Survey Manager

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing survey plats and maps, including boundary surveys, as-built surveys, topographic surveys, utility route surveys, and maps that meet the current VDOT survey requirements. The role also entails individual project management, court house research, construction staking calculations, and occasional field work. The candidate should be able to work independently to complete projects with demanding scopes and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Prepare survey plats and maps, including boundary surveys, as-built surveys, and topographic surveys.
• Ensure compliance with current VDOT survey requirements.
• Manage individual projects, including court house research and construction staking calculations.
• Perform occasional field work.
• Write fee proposals and communicate effectively with clients.
• Represent the company to clients and municipal agencies.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of three years of relative experience.
• Licensed as a Land Surveyor in Virginia or ability to obtain the license is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and MicroStation programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 4-10+ years of experience in land surveying, ideally a mix of office and field work.
• Proficiency in Carlson software and familiarity with TBC, TGO, and Topcon capabilities.
• Familiarity with ALTA/ACSM standards.
• Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and municipal regulations and codes.
• Experience in GIS and GPS technology.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving probability, statistical inference, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Experience interpreting construction plans, specifications, maps, plats, and legal descriptions.
• Capability to direct, supervise, train, and evaluate staff performance.
• Ability to pass a drug and background check.

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
