Software Engineer

We are seeking multiple Software Engineers to join a cutting-edge R&D effort focused on rearchitecting legacy Navy systems to modernize submarine electronics and antisubmarine warfare capabilities. This role is ideal for a software engineer with strong prototyping skills, a collaborative mindset, and hands-on experience deploying microservices in Kubernetes environments. You will work alongside subject matter experts in Software Defined Storage and contribute to two parallel prototype efforts, one focused on storage architecture and the other on broader system modernization. This position demands technical maturity, adaptability, and a passion for solving complex problems in mission-critical domains.

• Collaborate on the design and development of prototype solutions for submarine system modernization.
• Contribute to whitepapers, trade studies, and requirement definitions.
• Deploy and manage microservices in Kubernetes environments.
• Participate in peer reviews and architecture discussions.
• Support milestone-based deliverables including storage requirements identification, trade study evaluations, prototype demonstrations, performance reporting, and transition planning.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Experience deploying and managing microservices in Kubernetes.
• Experience working with Linux.
• Understanding of modern software architecture and prototyping.
• Experience with Agile development practices.
• Eligible for a US Secret Clearance.

• Experience with software-defined storage solutions.
• Familiarity with Navy or DoD systems and environments.
• Experience writing technical whitepapers or trade studies.

The position is 100% onsite at our client's facility. You will be working in an advanced R&D setting focused on antisubmarine warfare systems, employing the latest technologies and methodologies to achieve project goals.

This is a Contract position based out of Manassas, Virginia.
