Description:
We are seeking a Solutions Architect to be part of creating a mission planning technology for the military, national guard, CBP, and FEMA. This person will responsible for working with the government customer and engineering team to solution a system that incorporates sensors on soldiers, ruggedized equipment, command and control stations, video streaming, UAS systems, satellite imagery, and radio communication systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Be part of developing the strategic collaboration with the customer and partners from a customer and business perspective. This includes understanding the customer’s vision, ideas and needs and use these to design solutions and give advice to the customer
2. Ensure efficient delivery of services around our client's Defense products to customers in the United States together with the project team
3. Install and configure customer software – often in the customer’s environment
4. Provide support throughout entire integration process and, to include system and acceptance test
5. Ensure we offer attractive services around our product portfolio which relate to our various customer segments
6. Provide solution descriptions for proposals, write whitepapers, deliver technical support
7. Participate in customer-oriented activities, such as in-person presentations, technical support, venues, and training

Actalent is supporting a company's who vision is to be the leading provider of C4I which is the command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence integration of software through an open Architecture. Their software helps simplify critical decision making for the military and National Guard. They are looking for a tenured Solutions Architect to come and not just build an application that the DoD needs but also be apart of developing strategic collaboration with the customers and partners from a customer and Business perspective.
Disqualifiers:
No experience with software architecture for the DoD, CBP, or FEMA
No ability to travel or willingness to be onsite 2 days a week
Best vs Average:
Solutioning Tactical Equipment
Home Engineering Lab (tinkering on their own home projects)
Experience building a containerized systems/microservices
Skills:
windows, linux, Solution architecture, agile, Java, java ee, java enterprise edition, Aws, Azure, Microservices, docker, kubernetes
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• 7+ years’ experience as a Solution Architect creating software applications for the DoD, CBP, or FEMA
• Experience building architecture for web-based application using Java, JavaScript, JavaEE (Wildfly, JBoss, Weblogic, Tomcat, and Angular/AngularJS and in an Agile environment
• Experience with Windows
• Experience with Technical Tasking distribution
• Qualified candidates must have or have the ability to obtain a security clearance with the US Government
• Must be willing to travel up to 15 days a Quarter
Preferred Experience:
• Experience with Containerization Architecture Principles
• VMware technologies: ESXI, vSphere, Workstation, etc.
• Android and Linux
• Continuous integration and deployment scripting (DevOps)
• SOAP, REST, HTTP SSL/TLS, TCP/IP
• HTML, CSS, XML, XSD, XSLT
• jPA, SQL (MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Postgres)
• Communication technologies: SATCOM, LTE, tactical radios, LAN/WAN, WIFI (At least 2 are preferred)
• ITIL, MCSE and/or similar certification
• Architecture for Cloud Technologies
• Background in defense command and control interoperability standards such as USTMF, VMF, APP-11, MIP, Link 16, NFFI, or CoT
