Meta's Reality Labs Research (RL-R) brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers to create the future of augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR). The eye tracking team within RL-R is working on research to enable eye tracking for everyone everywhere, which is key to enabling many groundbreaking experiences.In this role, you will join a team of software and research engineers to collaborate with research scientists, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and user experience designers. You will learn constantly, dive into new areas with unfamiliar technologies, and embrace the ambiguity of AR/VR problem solving. Together, we are going to build cutting-edge prototypes, technologies, and toolsets that can define a paradigm shift in how we interact with our surroundings. We invite you to step into the adventure of a lifetime, as we make science fiction real and change the world.This role will focus on developing software that integrates with research hardware for data capture, synchronization, digital signal processing, and real-time visualization. These systems are performance sensitive and often require careful synchronization. You will have a tight interaction loop with your science and engineering collaborators.

Software Engineer - Eye tracking Systems Integration Responsibilities:
  • Work side-by-side with research scientists, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and UX designers to enable new experiences in AR and VR
  • Design, develop, integrate, and test software for advanced prototypes
  • Create tools, infrastructure, and documentation to accelerate research
  • Analyze and improve the signal quality of research systems
  • Collaborate with other research and engineering teams to identify gaps, build solutions, and transfer technology
  • Perform code reviews that improve software engineering quality
  • Collaborate in a team environment across multiple scientific and engineering disciplines, making the architectural tradeoffs required to rapidly deliver software solutions
  • Write clean, readable code, debug complex problems that span systems, prioritize ruthlessly and get things done with a high level of efficiency
  • Learn constantly, dive into new areas with unfamiliar technologies, and embrace the ambiguity of AR/VR problem solving
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated C++ and Python expertise
  • 5+ years of professional programming experience
  • Experience with digital signal processing
  • Experience with at least one of the following: real-time hardware interface code, firmware engineering, embedded software engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with more than one of the following: real-time hardware interface code, firmware engineering, embedded software engineering
  • Experience with computer vision, 3D rendering, machine learning
  • Experience in optics (lasers, lenses, optical sensors)
  • Experience working in AR/VR
  • Experience developing software in a research environment
