As a Comfort Product Design Engineer at Meta, you will take a critical role in developing future AR Systems. You will become part of a team exploring new concepts through mechanical design, anthropometric modeling and focused user testing, as well as fast iterative prototyping. A wide range of approaches will be explored combining mechanical, optical and electrical techniques to comfort and fitment. We want people who work well in teams, can brainstorm big ideas, work in new technology areas, are able to drive a concept into a prototype and then mature the design to a high-volume consumer product solution. We are looking for someone with a productive mindset who can apply their mechanical and materials engineering expertise to solve problems in creative, insightful ways. Our ideal candidate has a strong fundamental engineering background, appreciation for Human Factors, Prototyping skills, 3D CAD capability, and experience designing and manufacturing consumer technology and wearable products.

Comfort Product Design Engineer Responsibilities:
- Lead or contribute to wearable related mechanical solutions as a part of a team
- Collaborate with Human Factors and cross-functional teams to generate concepts and designs
- Analyze, optimize, build, test and refine prototypes to support usability and comfort studies
- Push state-of-the-art technologies for wearables to solve complex problems
- Work with vendors worldwide on both commodity materials and soft goods
- Work across the full product development cycle, from concept to shipping
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
- 5+ years of industry/academic mechanical design experience
- Experience in 3D CAD modeling (NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) and physical prototyping
- Experience with manufacturing techniques (machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.)
- Experience with design from concept to manufacturing
- 7+ years of product design/prototyping and R&D experience, including subsystem ownership
- 3+ years of experience working on high-volume consumer products
- Experience designing handheld and wearable electronics for high-volume manufacturing
- Experience with soft goods, elastomerics, foams, hypo-allergenic materials and adhesives
- Experience in mass production of systems utilizing soft goods
- Knowledge of Human Factors modeling/optimization and applications to wearables
