Job Title: Utility Locator

Job Description

As a Utility Locator, you will be responsible for correctly, safely, and efficiently locating underground utilities, including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems. You will thoroughly search designated areas for underground utilities, accurately mark their locations, complete necessary documentation, and photograph each locate.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities such as telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems accurately and safely.
• Thoroughly search assigned areas for underground utilities, mark their locations, and complete necessary documentation and photographs.
• Work full-time during daytime hours with required overtime to meet a 48-hour turnaround time on most locates, including working the day after holidays and some weekends, as needed.

Essential Skills

• Experience in telecommunication, OSP, construction, utility locating, GIS, surveying, underground utilities, and telecom.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Proficient in computer use.
• Available to work overtime and weekends as needed.
• Ability to pass a drug screen for this safety-sensitive position.
• Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
• Capability to work in confined spaces and perform physical activities such as walking and bending.
• Ability to distinguish between colors used for identifying wiring and marking underground utilities.
• Competence in reading, understanding, and referencing locate tickets, maps, and prints.
• Strong communication skills with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous outdoor experience is a plus.

Work Environment

This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions. It is a daytime, full-time role that necessitates overtime work, including some weekends and holidays, to meet the 48-hour turnaround time for locates. The role involves working in confined spaces and requires the ability to distinguish colors for identifying wiring and marking utilities.
