Job Summary:
TEKsystems is seeking a skilled and motivated Data Center Technician for a contract-to-hire opportunity supporting one of the most high-profile and rapidly growing data center initiatives in the country. This role involves supporting data center decommissioning, cable management, hardware setup, and physical audits across multiple sites nationwide.
Key Responsibilities:
- Remove network cables as part of data center decommissioning efforts.
- Run, label, and stage power and networking cables.
- Perform DBD removal (no scanning required).
- Follow procedures for installing, troubleshooting, replacing, and decommissioning equipment under the guidance of Data Center Technician Leads.
- Prepare, stage, and perform basic hardware startups and shutdowns using written instructions and checklists.
- Conduct physical audits of data center assets.
- Monitor systems for equipment failures or performance issues.
- Respond to program error messages and assist in debugging and testing.
- Operate spreadsheet and software tools to manage and report data.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
- Open to working at all Milwaukee-area data center sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in computer programming or equivalent training.
- 5+ years of data center experience.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Compensation:$50
