Job Description
This role focuses on building and modifying complex electro-mechanical machinery and control panels for automated packaging lines. You assemble mechanical systems from bills of material and engineering drawings, wire machines and control panels up to 575V in accordance with NFPA 79, integrate third-party equipment, and ensure each system operates reliably and safely. You also load and configure software, perform I/O checks, debug issues, and support customer Factory Acceptance Tests while training operators and maintenance personnel on proper use and maintenance of the equipment.
Responsibilities
- Build and modify mechanical assemblies using bills of material, engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Perform electrical assembly and panel building, including wiring machines and control panels up to 575V in accordance with NFPA 79 standards.
- Wire control panels and machine circuits accurately, ensuring proper routing, labeling, and termination of conductors and components.
- Integrate system equipment, including third-party components and subsystems, into complete automated packaging lines.
- Load software and flash firmware onto controllers and related devices as required for system operation.
- Perform I/O checks to verify proper operation of inputs, outputs, sensors, actuators, and safety circuits.
- Configure machine parameters and recipes to meet application requirements and customer specifications.
- Debug and resolve mechanical issues, including alignment, fit, motion, and mechanical interference problems.
- Troubleshoot live power and control circuitry safely to diagnose and correct electrical faults and performance issues.
- Debug software-related issues in coordination with engineering, making parameter changes and adjustments as needed.
- Verify full system functionality prior to customer review, ensuring machines operate according to design and safety standards.
- Lead customer Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), demonstrating equipment performance and addressing questions or concerns.
- Train customer operators and maintenance teams on proper equipment operation, basic troubleshooting, and routine maintenance.
- Collaborate with team members in a fast-paced, dynamic, and team-centric environment to meet project timelines and customer expectations.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety procedures when working with mechanical systems and live electrical circuits.
- Hands-on experience with machine building and mechanical assembly in an industrial or automation environment.
- Strong electrical assembly and panel building skills, including panel wiring and machine wiring.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics for both mechanical and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in wiring machines and control panels up to 575V in accordance with NFPA 79 or similar industrial standards.
- Experience troubleshooting live power and control circuitry safely and effectively.
- Ability to perform I/O checks and verify correct operation of sensors, actuators, and control devices.
- Experience configuring machine parameters and recipes within control systems.
- Ability to debug both mechanical and software-related issues on automated equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and quality when assembling, wiring, and testing equipment.
- Effective communication skills to lead Factory Acceptance Tests and train operators and maintenance personnel.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently while contributing to a team-centric environment.
- Familiarity with automated packaging lines and integration of third-party equipment and components.
- Experience loading software and flashing firmware on controllers, drives, or related devices.
- Knowledge of industrial safety practices when working with high-voltage systems and moving machinery.
- Comfort working from bills of material to select and verify components during assembly.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on root-cause analysis and long-term solutions.

Work Environment
You work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly collaborative environment where teamwork and open communication are essential. The role requires a balance of self-motivation and independence, with the empowerment to make an impact and help meet high customer expectations. The position follows a first-shift schedule with flexible start times between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., working an 8-hour day (for example, 5:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., or 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.). You regularly work around industrial machinery, control panels, and electrical systems, following established safety procedures and best practices.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Richmond, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $37.00/hr.
