Job Title: Estimator
Job Description
The Estimator reviews customer drawings and specifications to determine required materials and production methods, then prepares accurate and timely cost estimates. This role generates detailed quotes within a 48-hour turnaround, collaborates closely with internal teams, and supports customers with clear communication and updates throughout the quoting process.
Responsibilities
- Review customer drawings and specifications to determine appropriate materials and production methods.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates that include materials, labor, and outside services.
- Generate and send customer quotes within a 48-hour turnaround time.
- Work closely with customers to answer questions, clarify requirements, and provide status updates on quotes.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Support quality and operations teams by interpreting blueprints and drawings when needed.
- Enter and maintain estimate and quote data accurately in Excel, ERP, and related systems.
- Use measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers as needed to verify dimensions and ensure accurate estimates.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to estimating processes and tools.
Essential Skills
- Experience in manufacturing, estimating, or a related field preferred.
- Strong Excel skills, including data entry and organization of estimate and quote information.
- Proficiency in general computer operation and use of Google Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Solid math skills and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills and a customer service mindset.
- Experience working with RFQs (Requests for Quote).
- Ability to use ERP systems, including familiarity with E2 System.
- Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- manufacturing environment is beneficial.
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams such as production, engineering, quality, and operations.
- Comfort working with multiple quotes and deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in calculations and documentation.
Work Environment
The work environment is climate controlled and office-based, with the Estimator typically sitting for 6 or more hours per day and spending a similar amount of time working on a computer screen. The role involves continual contact with others, including frequent interaction with internal teams and customers. There may be some loud or distracting noise in the surrounding area. The position requires occasional presence in the manufacturing area, typically 0 to 2 hours per day, to review parts, processes, or drawings with operations and production staff
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oshkosh, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
