Position Title: Field Service Technician
General Summary
Responsible for the care of our customer’s needs with regard to installation, training and ongoing support of new and installed equipment. This position is our primary interface between our customers after a machine has shipped. In addition, when not traveling to customer sites, the Field Service Technician will check out and test new machines prior to shipping from the corporate headquarters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Install, train, and provide support for new and existing equipment.
• Serve as the primary interface with customers post-shipment.
• Test and inspect new machines before shipping.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues with equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of service activities, including reports and customer interactions.
• Travel anticipated up to 75% of the time. Primarily domestic but occasional international travel required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
• Understanding of machine requirements and how they integrate with customer systems.
• Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the company's products or services (preferred).
• Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
• Proficiency in computer use for typing reports, results, and customer details.
• Proven problem-solving abilities and skills in identifying root causes.
• Strong judgment, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work flexible schedule and travel as required.
• Working knowledge of the mechanical and electrical systems of packaging equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment.
Education and Experience/Skills Required:
• High school degree or GED and a minimum of three to five years of field service
technician/customer service experience
• Bilingual (Spanish) Preferred
Professional Licensing and/or Certifications Required: Valid driver’s license and Passport
Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
- The employee is regularly exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, smoke and unpleasant odors.
- Field service at customers facilities
